Mattheus E. Stephens
PROGRESSIVE LAW GROUP
Mattheus E. Stephens is a civil trial lawyer with an AV rating from Martindale- Hubbell. He specializes in General Civil Litigation and has handled a wide range of cases involving business disputes, employment issues, Civil Rights claims, intellectual property and real property disputes. Matt recently won the groundbreaking Lorri Sulpizio vs. San Diego Community College District case, paving the way for improved gender equity standards at the community college level in California and throughout the nation. The San Diego Daily Transcript voted Mattheus a San Diego County Top Attorney for 2008, and he currently serves as the Vice-President of the City’s Civil Service Commission (appointed by Mayor Jerry Sanders). He is also a Lecturer at the University of California San Diego, where he has taught undergraduate constitutional law courses since 1999.
Matt earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University School of Law, Camden, in 1990 and started his law career at Gray Cary Ames & Frye (now DLA Piper) as a commercial litigation associate. He will continue his litigation practice at the Progressive Law Group, working closely with his colleagues at Schor & Freeland, LLP.
